Cost and Fees

Name reservation is about BHD 50, the CR about BHD 50, and notarisation BHD 50 to 150. A simple setup keeps total government fees under BHD 600.

Company Types

WLL, SPC, BSC, and which fits you.

A W.L.L is best for most small and medium businesses. It offers liability protection and up to 100% foreign ownership. Compare all types in types of company in Bahrain.

An SPC has one owner. A W.L.L can have one to fifty. Recent reforms let a single owner register a W.L.L, so the two are converging.

A W.L.L is a With Limited Liability company. It limits your risk to your capital and allows up to 100% foreign ownership.

VAT and Tax

Rates, thresholds, and filing.

Yes. Bahrain charges 10% VAT on local sales, and 0% on service exports. You register once your sales pass BHD 37,500 a year. Full detail in VAT registration in Bahrain.

A 10% corporate tax is drafted for profits above BHD 200,000, with a target start of January 2027. It is still in draft, so most firms pay 0% now.

CR Renewal and Compliance

Yearly renewals and staying compliant.

You renew each year through Sijilat. Renew up to 90 days before expiry to avoid any lapse. Read our full CR renewal in Bahrain guide.

Your bank account can freeze and your visas can block. You can still renew for up to three years, after which the CR is deleted.

You renew your CR, file VAT, keep accounts, and handle LMRA and GOSI filings. We manage this for our clients so nothing lapses.

Corporate Bank Account

Opening, deposits, and approvals.

Minimum balances start from around BHD 500 for local accounts. Offshore accounts need more.

Visas and Residency

Yes. Bahrain has no currency restrictions. You can send your full profits abroad, and you keep 100% of them under the 0% corporate tax.

There are no restrictions on where your company trades. Bahrain gives you access to the GCC and bilateral trade links with many countries.

A basic setup runs from SAR 20,000 to SAR 50,000. The MISA license is SAR 2,000 to SAR 12,000 a year.
